The Weekly Top X: Brent Style

I only have a few seconds before Brent gets here... so I gotta make it quick.  We put Brent in charge of the Top X picks this week.  So please be nice to him no matter how crappy you may think it is.  He's fragile he is.  And another thing... OH SHIT!  He's here!  Quick!  Act like we weren't just talking all conspiritorially.  Be cool, man.  Be cool.

John:  Hi, Brent!
Brent: Ah, a Brent Top X! The control is going to my head. What shall we do for this week’s theme? Anything I want!

The second I get to know Brent well enough to send X-mas gifts, he is totally getting one of these.

1) Ten Inch Template - ...to take arms against a sea of troubles...
Brent: Ten Inch Template is a new offering here at the House of Paincakes. Since I encouraged him to apply for the blogroll, I get all the credit for anything this blog accomplishes in the future, right Lauby?
John: No, Brent. Stop being such a chiseler. The House of Paincakes isn’t a pyramid scheme. This guy’s super schweet Vraks militia and his bon mots remain his own.
Brent: Well, I thought that’s how it worked. See if I help again.
John: Anyways, Brent if that’s is how it worked, the credit would go straight up the chain to Dethtron and I anyway. YOU GET NOTHING!

2) Yes The Truth Hurts - Why We Need Hobby to Be Competitive
Brent: Purgatus recently got author privileges over on Yes the Truth Hurts and almost immediately put all the other non-Stelek dudes to shame by, you know, posting.
John:  Yeah, its good to see Andrew's attempt to share the load, get more content and expand the site actually take root in at least one of the hundreds of authors he has.  Plus, this is just a great article in its own right.  Purgatus is really starting to crank out some good stuff that really meshes well with the site's mission
Brent: Yea, but how is this about me?
John:  Sigh.

3) Galaxy in Flames - The Soul Reapers Revival begins: Reserves have started to arrive
Brent: It’s hard not to include a nod to the recent Galaxy in Flames turmoil. For those of you living under a rock, or visiting adult sites to the exclusion of wargame blogs - and what the hell is wrong with you? Get a woman, a dude, or both, depending on your preference, and give the old wrist a rest. 2D porn ain’t healthy in more than moderate doses, get me? Get with the real thing, then, you know, ignore her/him/them and play 40K.
John: Brent, I think you’re jumping the gun a bit. We’ve barely even begun to conceive of a HoP lifestyle column and here you are making it all creepy before we have time to reject your application! Lets focus on what’s really important here - all the naked breasts people who pitched in to get Big Jim back in the game. It’s.. I dunno.. anything I’ve tried to write so far sounds trite and cliched... it’s just awesome.
Brent: You’re right. Sorry - I got carried away. Anyway, I agree with Lauby: kudos for all the fine folks helping out a fellow gamer. If you want to help, shoot Magilla Gurilla an email.
John: Please do.  You can find all the relevant info over on Table Top War.

4) The Back 40k - My New 1750 Guard List
Brent: Can you fine folks guess why I’ve picked this one?
John: Because it’s Sandwyrm week at the House of Paincakes?
Brent: That too, but primarily because Sandwyrm has enough crap in his graveyard to make another fully painted army. For some reason, I got a huge kick out of that.
John: Haha, yeah, that is pretty great. As someone who also has a huge collection of unused stuff, I‘m just a little bit jealous that all of his back stock is in a usable condition.

5) Mart's Warhammer Blog - I HAD A GAME... and drew :(
Brent: Lauby, if I’m not mistaken, this is another new blog, right?
John: Indeed it is. And if I’m not mistaken you’re about to attempt another putch on the credit for some amazing work.
Brent: Nope. I’m not trying to take credit for this one. My only thing is... what is up with that table! Check out the pics - it looks like a 6 by 4 section of desert lovingly toted off to some dude’s gameroom. Talk about realism.
John: It’s so totally boss and cool... I can’t tear my eyes away!

Phew.  I don't think he suspects anything.  Actually, this was pretty great.  Brent picked some good stuff and some unusual stuff - stuff I may not have picked but would have been all the poorer for not doing so.  I may have to have him do all the work more often.  Not only will it allow me to play more Fallout New Vegas, but we'll get a much broader perspective to boot.  Good times.
See you guys next time.  - Lauby

  1. Thanks guys!

Glad you liked the board. I will be selling out over xmas though and getting a Realms of Battle Board - going to do a cliche Khorne theme! (original I know!!)

I'll be sure to blog it... (its going to be a traveling board not my main one...)

PS. Really cool site... I have already started to spread the word!

  2. Thanks again for the support guys! I have had almost everything that I need donated.

The only things left that I need is 3 chaos bikes, a box of chaos terminators and various special weapons bits. I can pick these up later myself, but won't turn down a donation if anyone has some just laying around collecting dust.

Thanks again for the shout out!
