John: Yes and yes.
Brent: Okay, I’ll spare you my normal opening and get right into the links. I will say we went a bit overboard today and picked a bunch of extra blogs, so get ready for some House of Paincakes goodness!
John: Yeah, we’ve got a lot to cover so the banter won’t be the crunchy corn-dog style you’re used to - more like tempura - light and exotic.

Behold! The terrifying hound of the the God of Murder! |
John: I’ve been following this thing since I first caught wind of it from the HoP blog roles. Simply put, its fan-fucking-tastic. This is the kind of thing thing that will make Eldar players think twice about using their fire dragons just so they can keep the thing on the table. Can’t wait to see it on the actual model.
Brent: It’s one of the rare green-stuff can-dos that make me want to break out the expensive tools I purchased and put them to use. Although, who am I kidding, right? Still, very cool.
2) Bringer of Victory - Creatures, Weirdos, Freaks, and Minions
John: This one was nominated by One Inch Warrior. Which is pretty amazing since he took the time to read it and then sent it on to us unsolicited. Don’t get me wrong - I love you guys, but we all know how the blogosphere works.
Brent: This is an instant classic; I can’t tell you how much I loved this post. The effort was simply inspired genius, and I think it deserves a spot on Top X: All-Time Edition.
John: Yeah, it is that good. But damn it all, you’ve gone and created an HoP feature that doesn’t exist yet! Curses!!
Brent: It doesn’t? Well, it should. Then again, an ‘All-Time’ episode would sort of imply that the House of Paincakes was as dead as Elvis. I guess we’d better pass...
3) The Fallen Princes - Super Blog Chain Give Away!
Brent: Like I was saying, it’s about what catches my attention as I’m reading through blogs; many times it’s about what makes me chuckle. This one is about the super-blog-chain-giveaway...
John: that model just screams “whatever is inside me is dangerous - you should probably shoot this first”. Goddamn that is cool.
Brent: I know! Anyway, it was an awesome tank but nobody responded. Hell, I want it!
4) Gauthic Intent - Striker.... Striker...
Brent: Gauthic is a close friend of mine, so I happily picked this post.
John: Besides, the clear cut nepotism, I can see why. Those smoke trails are pretty freaking sweet. I’m beginning to see the benefit of the standardized model volume rules in Warmachine - more conversion freedom.
5) Lines On Maps - 33 and a 3rd Year old Tournament Virgin. It wasn't as painful as I thought...
Brent: Again, I chuckled!
John: Yeah, there is a certain amount of hesitation when it comes to your first tournament. Though I wish my M:TG experiences had been this positive. I think my experiences with “sweatpants smells like pee” guy and “bend all your damn cards foreigner” dick have been a factor in keeping me from it all...
Brent: Play in a tournament! Pop your cherry!
John: ...that and the lack of a fully painted army. Ho ho!
6) Delusions of Grandeur - Weekly Battle Report #1: Wolfstar vs. New Dark Eldar
John: Man, the battle report looks great, but none of the pictures show me enough of the eye candy!
Brent: I really dig this army. I got to see it up close at WarGames Con and chat briefly with Xaereth. Cool guy.
John: You lucky SOB. All in all, a well written report and a great peek at what the Dark Eldar can and cannot do.
Brent: Yup. Also it’s neat to see two fully painted armies, especially since one is a proxy. I’m looking forward to more Dark Eldar battle reports out there.
7) Musings of a Metal Mind - Skitarii Veterans
Brent: I simply love this dude. Yea, I said it! He’s got a style all his own.
John: Hell yeah he does. I don’t think I’ve seen a single model of his that hasn’t had some kind of conversion magic worked on it. And I do mean magic.
Brent: I’ve got him pegged for an upcoming On Blogging article; I’m sure he thinks I’ve forgotten but I had a bout of ‘real-life.’ Hopefully we’ll find out what crazy angle keeps him cranking out genius kit-bashes.
8) Hulksmash's Homeplace - Can Tyranids Compete? Part 4
John: Hulksmash is our 100th blog on the HoP rolls. As such, I thought it good and right to include something of his. But don't think I would have put just any ol' thing up. Hulksmash has got some good mind grapes... Brent stop making that sucking sound!
Brent: That's me sucking up! I like me some Hulksmash I do. If I wasn't already following Reecius around the Blogosphere picking a Footdar on Footdar Battle Royal Grudge Match for 2011, I'd call him out! For hugs and gropings, that is... I wouldn't want to embarrass him, you know.
John: I dunno about that Brent, there wasn't much you said that wasn't embarrassing in some way to someone.
Brent: What? Hugs and Gropings aren't embarrassing. Are they?
That wraps up this super size edition of the Weekly Top X. There's a lot of good stuff out there and this series is just the tip of the iceberg. With that in mind, I invite everyone to follow in the example of One Inch Warrior and go ahead and feel free to nominate any posts they feel belongs on the HoP front page. - Lauby
Great job everyone.
ReplyDeleteWhoa thanks for the props.
ReplyDeletethanks for the plug for the give away but sadly I've took it down due to lack of interest. I will try and find another prize and run it again soon..
ReplyDeleteThanks for the web recognition from HoP and everyone who watched it and commented. It was a wildly popular post for our site. I'm no schmuck and I can see what the people want; expect more!
