1) The Buddy Times - Girls and Robots!!! the miniature variety
For a long time I've had my eye on some of the Soda Pop miniatures stuff. By now we've all got a fairly good handle on what Super Dungeon Explore is all about. But they make other stuff to. Hashshashin here, picked up one of those 'other' models and I have to say that it looks pretty rad.
2) Watching Paint Dry - Skaven Doomflayer Complete
I've actually been following this one all week. I was lucky enough to catch a look at one of the in progress updates and decided to include it in this week's Top X. Then I got extra lucky and and Mr. Graham went and finsihed the thing. Bonus points for this being almost entirely done in the new GW paints.
3) Strictly Average - Adepticon Game 4 w James Wappel
This right here is a spectacle. Seriously. Brent got an opportunity to play against an amazing army by the aforementioned Mr. Wappel. He is an absolutely astounding painter with many awards under his belt and I have no idea how Brent was able to bring himself to take game actions that would remove these models from the table.
4) Fire Broadside - Going Interplanetary in High Frontier
Fire Broadside always seems to have something interesting going on. Mostly due to the fact that the author is always going into a great deal of depth with all these 'other' games. High Frontier is now on my wishlist and once you take the time to read this post, it'll be on yours as well. Also, the word 'robonaut' gets used a lot and I think that that sounds pretty much awesome.
5) Lost in the Warp - Pimp my Popemobiles! Sisters of Battle vehicles for a friend
Here's another post with some models for you to drool over. James worked some magic on some old mk i Rhinos and the resulting Sisters of Battle force is well worth the time to you'll need to properly eye fuck them.
6) Here be Geeks - Journeyman League
One of the many, many things that sets Privateer Press' commitment to it's customers above and beyond the norm is the amount of time and energy they put into giving players as many options for organized play as possible. It's also pretty smart too since gaming groups can be a fragile thing. If you've ever wondered what a 6 week journeyman league looks like from the inside, check out these posts.
7) the M42 Project - Special Rules: Clarity from Order
Sandwyrm and his buddies have been plugging away at the groundwork for a rules set for a sci-fi game of their own design for some time now. This post in particular caught my eye. Not just because it's well written and an interesting addition to the M42 pile of ideas, but because this post also clearly lays out what a few good policies for rules writing that many people could benefit from.
8) White Metal Gaming - On the nuances of customer service in a socially inept and young industry, being a gamer on the outside of the gaming industry looking in, and a call to arms for all those of like mind!
As a general rule, I don't normally link to eDrama. I think its by and large counterproductive to the HoP mission. This post from calebfilm takes a spot of drama and spins something positive from it - an interesting conversation about our hobbies. A rare and wonderful thing.
